Today we toured the grounds of the Rumi Loma Hacienda. Located just west of the Las Casas neighborhood, this 5 star hotel with restaurant and bar sits on the side of a mountain with a river running in the valley below. It offers rustic accommodations and beautiful hiking trails. Unfortunately we were not able to eat in the restaurant today as planned, due to an event for New Year’s Eve. Therefore, I included photos from their website of the actual rooms as we were not able to view these in person. The grounds are well kept with a beautiful view of Quito to be had from the back porch of the main house. There are llamas roaming the grounds and although they were wary of us, they allowed us to take photos with them in the background.

The rooms are located in the adjacent house which offers 4 suites ranging in price from $230/night to $280/night as well as 2 presidential suites which are $350/night and $445/night respectively. The presidential suites are larger and include in ground Jacuzzis. All of the rooms are full of rustic charm with exposed beams and brick or block. The furniture is charming and warm. But the romantic vistas are the real amenities. The grounds would be ideal for a small romantic wedding and reception.

The restaurant offers authentic Ecuadorian dishes with a sophisticated twist. Dishes such as Lomo Volcan, Corvina se Roca, Cordon bleu, and camarones Rumiloma are found on the menu. Prices range from $25-40 for entrees.

The bar is based on a combination of Irish and traditional Ecuadorian hacienda style, complete with a large stone fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating for friends, old and yet to make. They have a good selection of local craft beers, wine, and sophisticated liquors.
